‘The Batman’ Gets a Logo as Trailer Approaches

The image above is our first look at a logo from Matt Reeves’s upcoming The Batman. Reeves released the image, along with one another (below), on his official Twitter feed. The director is teasing the film’s appearance at this weekend’s DC FanDome. As you may recall, FanDome is DC’s virtual replacement for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which will include a lot of footage and images from upcoming movies, including The Batman. Expect more Batman at FanDome. Perhaps much, much more.

So what do you you think of the logo? I know it’s not much but at least it’s something! Personally, I like the approach they’re taking. It feels heavy, impactful, gritty (though I think we are all tired of the word “gritty” being used to describe Batman). I also dig the color scheme. It certainly gives off the impression Reeves and Co. are going for.

Now let’s take a look at the art below, created by DC mainstay Jim Lee. It isn’t a picture of Robert Pattinson in costume as the Caped Crusader but it definitely gives us a very good idea of what he will look like when he’s wearing the fabled Batsuit. I am particularly fond of the collar on the cap and the padded shoulders.

With all the craziness going on in the world, it’s easy to forget that this new Batman movie is in the works and seemingly really promising. That crew! The cast! Production is set to resume next month and the movie is still scheduled for an October 1, 2021 release. Let’s see what Reeves and his team have in store for us at this weekend’s DC FanDome. Gimme the trailer, dammit!
