The Star Trek boom will continue on CBS All Access, adding a third ongoing show to their catalogue. Based on their appearance in an episode from season two of Star Trek: Discovery, Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck will be returning to headline Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, following the ongoing adventures of Captain Christopher Pike and his crew, which of course includes Science Officer Spock (Peck), per Variety. Christopher Pike was, of course, the protagonist in the original Pilot for OG Star Trek, and then showed up again later as a paraplegic in a remote controlled salt shaker. And then Bruce Greenwood played him in the JJ Abrams film. He’s a piece of Trek history, and will now receive, as it were, his own command. He’ll be played by Mount, famous for Hell on Wheels, where he portrayed ‘Bohannon!’

This join Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard on the streaming platform, making it the most Trek anyone’s seen since the early 90s, when you TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Personally, I haven’t taken the plunge on these yet, and more content makes it even more daunting. We’re approaching DC on the CW territory here. But I wouldn’t begrudge Trekkies their moment.
