Old and busted: Chris D’Elia. New hotness: Tig Notaro.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix horror-action film, Army of the Dead, is doing a post-production actor swap, changing out disgraced comedian Chris D’Elia for queen of deadpan Tig Notaro. D’Elia’s role will be deleted from the film and replaced by Notaro, who will begin shooting her part soon once COVID-19 restrictions allow. The reshoots will use a series of “techniques” to inject the actress into the film, from “actually reshooting scenes opposite an acting partner to using green screen and CG technology to blend her in.” That’s money well spent.

D’Elia’s career went down in flames last month when multiple women came forward to accuse him of sexual harassment and grooming of underage girls. D’Elia denied the accusations.

Snyder’s film is an all-star horror movie about a group of mercenaries who venture into a post-apocalyptic, zombie-ridden Las Vegas to pull off the biggest heist ever. It stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purcell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Garret Dillahunt, Samantha Win and more. I don’t know why but something tells me that Notaro and Bautista are going to end up being the best of friends.

Army of the Dead, which was pretty much done when COVID-19 came around, will be Snyder’s first film for Netflix and his first horror movie since his debut, Dawn of the Dead...though some would argue that Batman V Superman was a horror movie in a many ways.
