Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage don’t look alike. They don’t act alike. Aside from being very talented actors (who I wouldn’t mind getting a drink with) they don’t have much in common.
That’s why it’s surprising — and exciting — that the pair have signed on to star in Brothers, a new film to be written and directed by Macon Blair (co-star of Green Room and Blue Ruin and director of I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore). Variety broke the news on the project but they don’t have much more information than the title and that sources say the project is in the same vein as the Schwarzenegger/DeVito film Twins. So I am guessing Brothers will be a comedy.
I hope it is a comedy because Dinklage is a supremely funny man. He is dry and cynical and wonderfully smart, all things I look for in a comedic performer. But ever since he became a household name with Game of Thrones he hasn’t been able to show off his comedy skills much. Brolin is also a funny dude although he shows it even less often than Dinklage does. On top of it all, Blair is a talented filmmaker who will surely bring out the best in both performers. That’s great because there is an awful lot of best in Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage.
The film will be brought to us from Legendary Entertainment and will be co-produced by Dinklage with his Estuary Films company and Brolin with his (aptly titled) Brolin Productions. They’re starring and producing? These two seem all-in on Brothers.
