So John Krasinski IS Directing ‘A Quiet Place 2’

John Krasinski has proven himself to be a liar.

After repeatedly stating that he wouldn’t direct the sequel to the massively-successful A Quiet Place, he took to Instagram to announce that he IS stepping behind the camera again for the horror follow-up. He also revealed the movie’s release date.

So now Krasinski won’t only write the movie but will also direct too. Hmmmm, I wonder what could have po$$ibly changed his mind. I’m kidding, of course. While he probably was offered a truck load of money to direct, this project and its predecessor really did seem like a labor of love for Krasinski. He’s definitely doing this for more than just a paycheck.

The extra bit of news for A Quiet Place 2 is regarding the cast. Remember when Emily Blunt, Millicent Simonds and Noah Jupe weren’t going to appear in the sequel? Yeah, well that’s changed now too. The Hollywood Reporter says all three are gearing up to return.  They also note that Blunt is expecting to take a pay cut again despite being a huge star. That’s just how much she loves her husband.

We know very little about the sequel but I would expect a much bigger budget and much bigger world view. More characters? Likely. More locations? You can bet on that. Bigger box office haul? That’s what Paramount is counting on. No one, even Paramount, knew how successful A Quiet Place was going to be. It dominated the box office, propelled Krasinski into A-list status while once again showing us all how talented Blunt is and it was a super good, tight little monster flick. There was no downside to this movie for Paramount and they are damn excited for the sequel. Now they have Krasinski, Blunt and the young actors returning. This is all coming together just like Paramount - and horror fans - want.
