Long-Lost Actor Taylor Kitsch to Star in New Film From Long-Lost Director Neill Blomkamp

Here’s a couple of names you probably haven’t heard lately: Taylor Kitsch and Neill Blomkamp. Both talented men, both with once-promising careers, both now in a sort of creative limbo where their track records have capsized and their fame has waned. Ah yes, we remember Kitsch and Blomkamp.

And now these two former big things are teaming up together for a chance at Hollywood redemption. Variety is reporting that Kitsch will star in Blomkamp’s upcoming Inferno. This will be Kitsch’s first major role since his stint on HBO’s True Detective and Blomkamp’s first major feature since (gulp) Chappie.

So what will Inferno be about? Well, it’s a cop drama. But being a Blomkamp film, you know there will be something sci-fi and horrific going on too. Here’s how Variety puts it:

[Kitsch] will star as a cop who is called to investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert. There he uncovers a deeper conspiracy and begins to suspect that the killer he’s trying to find may be a humanoid beast

See, that sounds a lot more like a Blomkamp film to me. Here’s one thing I can guarantee you: the killer Kitsch is looking for will most certainly be a humanoid beast. Bet on it. Oh, also bet on some fiery, angry stares from Kitsch. That’s kind of his thing.

I give these two a hard time but honestly I wish nothing but the best for Inferno because, as mentioned at the top, both Kitsch and Blomkamp are talented guys. They’ve made a few bad choices and have had a few bad breaks but their stories aren’t finished yet. It feels like Inferno is a chance for both of them to get back on track and I’m all for it.
