Of Course Neve Campbell has Joined ‘Scream 5’

It was just a matter of time, wasn’t it?

Neve Campbell has joined the cast of Scream 5 after months of people assuming she would. Campbell’s casting means she will reunite with Scream regulars Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who signed onto the sequel a few months ago. Also starring in Scream 5 will be newcomers Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.

We don’t know much about Scream 5. The movie will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking collective Radio Silence. It’s being written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and while that’s a brand new team, Scream mastermind Kevin Williamson is executive producing the movie.

Here’s Radio Silence’s statement on Campbell’s return to the Screamverse:

“We’re pinching ourselves! It’s hard to express how much the character Sidney Prescott shaped our love of movies and to have the chance to work with Neve is truly a dream come true. It just wouldn’t be a Scream movie without Neve and we’re so excited and honored to join her in Woodsboro.”

We all saw Campbell’s casting coming for awhile now. After Arquette and Cox were both attached, it seemed like only a mater of time until the once-and-future Sidney Prescott came aboard. But we don’t know how much we’ll see of Cox, Arquette and now Campbell. Will they be big parts of Scream 5 or will they be glorified cameos? There’s a fear that maybe the three leads from the previous films will be killed off similar to Han Solo in The Force Awakens, allowing the new cast to take over the franchise, a passing of the torch, so to speak. I hope that’s not the case, I’d love for all three to be heavily involved in the new Scream.

Scream 5 is hitting theaters on January 14, 2022. That gives you plenty of time to rewatch the originals. Only one of them is really bad!
