Netflix’s Animated ‘Resident Evil’ Series Gets a Suitably Dark Trailer

Netflix’s Animated ‘Resident Evil’ Series Gets a Suitably Dark Trailer

Well, well, well, what do we have here?

Netflix just released the first trailer for its upcoming animated Resident Evil series. Its formal title is Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and it’ll hit the streaming service sometime in 2021. The show will apparently be an anime although I don’t see a whole lot anime influence in this first teaser.

I like the trailer. It’s short and doesn’t show much (though we do see glimpses of series mainstays Chris, Leon and Claire) but it definitely feels like old school Resident Evil to me. Honestly, it looks like a high-quality cut scene from one of the games and that’s A-OK with me! It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a faithful adaptation of these games.

Now, don’t get Infinite Darkness confused with the other Resident Evil series that Netflix is currently cooking up. That live-action series sounds much more like the movies, sadly. Of the two RE projects in development at Netflix, I am far more excited for Infinite Darkness.
