Nolan-oscopy: Following

With Finch Club complete, it’s time for a new Director series on Frame Work, and this time, we’re taking a deep, probing look inside the films of Christopher Nolan with the Nolan-oscopy!. And while most people know Memento as Nolan’s breakout debut, he technically has one more before that, the seventy minutes noir exercise Following! Produced on the fly in the mid 90s, this little seen (yet somehow Criterion approved) Black & White thriller displays many of the themes, idiosyncrasies and general ticks Nolan would go on to play with his entire career. Even if you haven’t seen it, this episode is just as much about the films to come.
