Frame Work: The Lord of the Rings Part 3

aragorn.jpg

The final and defining chapter of (Frame Work’s leisurely coverage of) Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings! Herein, Al and myself, after trudging longways through the technical achievements and minor stumbling blocks of the series, arrive at the very Crack of Doom itself. That is to say, an agreeable chat about how good the cast is! And a bit of reflection on the lack of sex in Middle Earth, with some snide bitching about Tom Bombadil! And of course, you can expect a defense of the sometimes-ridiculed multiple endings, a bit on the upcoming Amazon series and a general reckoning with the enormity of the achievement, and the influence it still holds over franchise filmmaking to this day.

This is the third part of one massive conversation, so if you’d like to start from the beginning, here’s Part 1 and Part 2. And you can also find them on the podcast app of your choice, where all our back episodes are available (just look for the artwork below). And as always, if you enjoy the show, please rate and review it one those very podcast apps, as that increases its visibility! Next week, Finch Club returns, with Zodiac!
