Finch Club returns this week, with a look at one of the esteemed masterworks of David Fincher’s career, the serial killer docudrama Zodiac! Was this film ahead of its time, or did it play some role in the current popularity of True Crime? Is this one of the best character actor casts ever assembled? How impressive is Fincher’s obsessive attention to 70s San Francisco period detail here? Who would Jared Leto have played, to really screw things up? There’s some compare and contrast with other period films about serial killers and paranoia, and a considered discussion about the controversial central performance, possibly the film’s only flaw. I like this one, I think it’s good. We hope you do to!
As always, if you enjoy what you hear, you can catch up with our previous David Fincher episodes, as well as a bunch of conversations on Lord of the Rings, superhero movies and a lot of Tarantino, if you go back a bit, on the podcast app of your choice, under the name of our podcast, Frame Work (just look for the artwork below). And if you’re so inclined, rating and reviewing the show there helps us out. Next up for Fincher is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and you know what that means.
