There has been much talk about Borat 2. What is it about? How was it kept so secret during filming? Most importantly, when is it coming out?

As we reported before, the film is allegedly about Borat going on another journey full of interviews with unsuspecting saps, this time often in costume himself. So it’ll be Sacha Baron Cohen in costume as Borat in costume as new, fake personas in order to land interviews. Pretty clever.

And now we know when the film will debut: Amazon has acquired Borat 2 (which is rumored to be titled Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation ofKazakhstan) and will start streaming the comedy film on its Prime Video service on October 23. That’s a big deal because it’s very soon and also because it’ll land the film’s release right before Election Day. Cohen’s comedy has always had a political slant and that’ll be true for Borat 2. Just look at that title, it’s got Vice President Pence’s name right smack-dab in the middle of it! Obviously this movie will once again wade into political waters and obviously Cohen wants people to see it before Election Day.

Amazon Prime is a great home for the comedy. It has millions of subscribers and allows viewers access to the movie ASAP, altogether skipping the now-tricky theatrical release. This entire project came to life quickly. It was filmed secretly right as labor unions and COVID-19 restrictions allowed it and was sold in record time and will be on TVs in just weeks. By this time next month we will have seen the film and we didn’t even know about it until a few weeks ago. Impressive.
