Bradley Cooper, actor/director who seems to have an aversion to slowing down or taking a break, is in talks to star in the upcoming untitled new film from Paul Thomas Anderson (or P.T. Anderson to his friends).

The film, which we reported on before, will be set in the San Fernando Valley back in the 1970s. That is music to the ears of many Anderson fans because it harkens back to Anderson’s early features which all took place inside that area of Los Angeles. Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Punch Drunk Love were all filmed in — and took great inspiration from — the Valley. Anderson returning to his roots is enough to get any film fan salivating.

Cooper’s inclusion in the picture would also be a welcome treat. Sure, he’s a good-looking superstar but Bradley Cooper is one hell of an actor too. The man picks and chooses his work seriously. He’s also a talented man behind the camera too, as proven with A Star is Born (and, if some rumors are to believed, parts of American Sniper). Over the last few years, Cooper has transformed from bankable Hollywood hunk to bankable awards-worthy auteur. I really respect his career trajectory.

There is no word on who Cooper would play in the new P.T. Anderson film. The movie will revolve around a kid actor attending school in the 70s. Obviously Cooper couldn’t play the kid but maybe he’d portray his teacher or agent? Whoever he is playing, it’ll likely be a big part. You don’t just cast Cooper for a bit role.

The movie is scheduled to start shooting down in the Valley in the fall but that’s obviously all dependent on how the COVID situation is going. But if they’re planning to film this project as soon as possible, you can expect to hear more casting news shortly.
