Goodness gracious, Ridley Scott sure has a way of attracting impressive casts.
Deadline says that Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Adam Driver and Jack Huston are in talks to co-star in Ridley Scott’s film about Patrizia Reggiani. Lady Gaga has long been set to star as Reggiani, who attained notoriety when she hired a hit man to assassinate her ex-husband, Gucci heir Maurizio Gucci. Gucci was indeed murdered in 1995 on the front steps of his office. Reggiani was later convicted of hiring the hitman and spent 18 years in prison. It was all quite scandalous and, because it involved the Gucci brand, quite glamorous.
There is no word on who De Niro, Pacino and the rest of the new additions will play but you have to imagine they’ll be big parts, you don’t bring these fellas in for small roles.
Ridley Scott is currently working on The Last Duel so this Gucci movie will go into production when that is complete. It’s shaping up to be one hell of a film, with Lady Gaga sure to garner a lot of praise for her performance. Patrizia Reggiani is quite the character. Known as the “Black Widow” because of, you know, having her ex-husband killed, Reggiani never lost her flair for drama. During her prison stay, she was offered a transfer to a minimal security working prison but she refused saying “I’ve never worked in my life and I’m certainly not going to start now.” She also made money off of her dead husband after her years in prison. Due to an agreement signed back in 1993, she was awarded a sum north of $16,000,000 after her release. Of course her ex-husband’s family appealed that decision.
See, this is one hell of a story. And now it’s got one hell of a cast.
