Brad Pitt will Ride the ‘Bullet Train’
As big a star as he is, Brad Pitt doesn’t do a whole lot of action movies. That is somewhat surprising for someone of his stature in Hollywood but Pitt has always preferred smaller, character-driven films. He has mostly avoided the big action blow-em-ups and superhero films. Kudos to him for blazing his own trail.
But Pitt just signed on to star in Bullet Train, a new action movie from director David Leitch (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2). The film, written by Zak Olkewicz, is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle by Kotaro Isaka. The book revolves around a group of assassins on a train ride from Tokyo to Morioka who discover they are all linked and working with — or against — each other.
Surprisingly, this is the first and only project Pitt has signed on for after his Oscar win for Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood. You would think he would have a whole lot lined up after finally nabbing Oscar gold but, nope, Bullet Train is the first thing he has on his schedule. That says that he has a lot of enthusiasm for the production which would suggest the movie will be good since he has a pretty good taste in movies. It certainly has an interesting plot, that’s for sure. A bit derivative, sure, but so are a lot of action films.
If you are curious about the book that Bullet Train is based on, it is set to be published in English next year.
