This is one pairing that just makes sense to me.

Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg are producing a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot film for Nickelodeon. The movie, which will be entirely CG animated, will be the first TMNT movie since Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes took on the franchise in 2014 and 2016. Those movies were, of course, not animated. Also: not very good!

Rogen and Goldberg will produce the movie alongside their Point Grey Pictures partner James Weaver. Jeff Rowe (Gravity Falls) will direct the feature while Brendan O’Brian (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) will write.

I don’t know Rogen and Goldberg personally but something about them tells me they grew up devouring the Turtles so it only makes sense that they revive the series for a new generation. The characters have been around since the mid-80s and have seen their fair share of ups and downs. I believe they should always be one of the biggest franchises on Earth because what is there to not love about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Their stories have awesome Kung-fu, humor and legions of daunting and cool villains like Shredder. It’s a damn shame that there isn’t always a new TMNT movie or show in development.

Actually, the last few years have been pretty popular for the Kevin Eastman-Peter Laird creations. Nickelodeon ran a CG-animated show back in 2012 and since there they also launched a 2D series last year. Nick also signed a deal with Netflix to produce an original 2D movie based on the current Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. So, a lot is happening with the Turtles. But this Rogen-Goldberg news is the biggest thing to happen to them in some time. It’ll add a lot of energy and interest. I’m all for it.

Now, the big question: will Seth Rogen voice any of the characters? If he does, he obviously has to play Michelangelo, right?
