An ‘Animorphs’ Movie is Coming And You Can Already Imagine the Poster

Do you remember Animorphs? Of course you remember Animorphs, the wildly popular young adult novels from the 90s with crazy covers. The series, written by K.A. Applegate, was about a group of kids who had the ability to transform (hence the “morph” in the title) into various animals (hence the ani in the title) in order to stop a secret alien invasion. I knew that synopsis even without reading a single Animorphs novel, that’s how popular these books were with kids.

And now the books are getting a feature film adaptation. THR says that Erik Feig and his Picturestart company is joining forces with Scholastic to create an Animorphs movie. Now’s the perfect time for an adaptation of a book series that’s nearly 30 years old! Why not?

Animorphs was a silly series, of course. You could tell that just by the covers. But on paper it’s the sort of thing that could end up being really successful. Movies aimed at young adults are often big hits. Same with movies about aliens and movies that rely on lots of special effects. So while we may all remember those silly graphics from the 90s and laugh, don’t count out Animorphs just yet. This idea may transform into something big.

And now, to end this article, here is a few of my favorite Animorphs covers. The one with the girl becoming an elephant is too good.
