The Kingsman movies are pretty good, I guess. They’re fun, they’re humorous, they’re led by some charming performances. The Kingsman movies are…fine. I’m definitely not in love with them but I don’t hate them either.
But there is no way on Earth I would want — or expect — more than a couple more films in the franchise. However, the Marv Group (the production company behind Kingsman) CEO says that director Matthew Vaughn is intent on making “something like seven more Kingsman films.” Seven?! And this is in addition to the Kingsman TV series currently in development. So we have seven movies and a show to look forward to. That’s a Marvel-esque development plan. I didn’t know Marv has a line on that sort of funding!
I am sure this is positive news for someone somewhere. Kingsman obviously has fans, seeing as how the first two movies in the series did quite well. I am sure the third movie, The King’s Man, will do some decent business too (although not in theaters…) but I just don’t think the vast majority of people are crying out for more than maybe one or two Kingsman movies after this one.
Plans change often so there is a good chance that Marv decides against making more than half-a-dozen more Kingsman flicks. But you never know, Hollywood needs as many successes as it can get right now and if Kingsman 4 and 5 and 6 help bolster the struggling industry then I am all for it.
