‘Selena: The Series’ Trailer: A Star is Born At Netflix

I am going to call it now: Netflix’s upcoming Selena: The Series is going to be a huge hit for the streaming service.

Fans of the late Selena Quintanilla are still intensely devoted to the singer and her work. She has achieved sainthood status with many — plus, her music still holds up (“Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” is a banger). Her tale is both inspiring and ultimately so very tragic too, it’s the sort of story that just sucks you in. It’s very hard to not like Selena and be drawn to her rise to fame. That’s why I think the new Netflix series will connect with viewers when it lands this December. Adoration for Selena is still very, very much alive and well.

Selena: The Series stars Christian Serratos as the titular singer and costars Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Seidy Lopez and more. The trailer above shows how Selena will not only chart the young performer’s meteoric rise to the top of the charts in the early 90s but will also showcase her relationships with her band and family. This isn’t like the Jennifer Lopez film which was completely centered around Selena, it looks like Netflix’s show will also show the struggles and triumphs of those around her.

Don’t sleep on Selena: The Series. It’s going to be big. The two-part Netflix event starts streaming on December 4.
