Andy Muschietti Swears the ‘Flash’ Movie Is Coming

There are some things we just no longer believe in: Santa Claus, the Electoral College and ever seeing a Flash movie on the big screen. We’ve been burned too many times and the failure of Justice League seemingly put a final nail in the coffin for a movie based on the Scarlet Speedster. But star Ezra Miller has repeatedly said the Flash movie is on the way. Hell, he’s even helped with the script. But the project has had so many directors attached and has existed in production hell for so long that we have lost faith. Even when it was announced that It director Andy Muschietti was on board to helm the project, we still couldn’t believe it.

Well believe it, Muschietti says. When asked by Fandango if Flash was his next project, the filmmaker said simply “Yup.” That sounds pretty concrete!

He didn’t just affirm that the movie was on its way, and soon. He also got into what he envisions for his take on the iconic character.

Sorry, horror hounds, Muschietti’s Flash won’t be scary but it does sound like it’ll have a strong focus on the human element of the story. That’s great, especially because Miller has done a fantastic job with the part, even in the sub-par Justice League. I’m not sure where Flash will fit in the grand scheme of the DC cinematic universe, especially as Wonder Woman and Aquaman find success on their own and Matt Reeves’s The Batman branches out as well. How does Muschietti’s Flash work alongside all those other movies? Also, are fans still clamoring for a movie about the Flash? I don’t really think so. But what do I know? I didn’t think folks were going to go bonkers for Aquaman and they ended up loving that.

Regardless, it’s good to know that Miller will actually get a chance to don the costume again and Barry Allen will finally be able to race around on the big screen.
