I never watched HBO’s Deadwood. I know, I know, I’m an idiot. Look, no one is as surprised as I am. The show’s got everything I love: gritty violence, wonderful and biting dialogue, Timothy freakin’ Olyphant. For some reason I just never got into it.
Maybe that will change now as HBO prepares to finally release its long-in-development Deadwood: The Movie. Fans have been clamoring for this feature-length farewell to the series for ages and there were many times when it didn’t seem like it would happen. The task of managing the ultra-successful cast must have been one hell of a headache but it all came together and the movie is right around the corner. Just today HBO has released the first official trailer for it. Behold!
Even as someone who knows little to nothing about the show, I can tell that this movie is going to give fans what they have missed about the show. I can’t imagine how excited Deadwood fanatics are right now as they see their favorite characters return for one last ride. They have waited years - years! - for this and now they don’t have to wait much longer.
Deadwood: The Movie hits HBO on May 31st. Giddyup.
