Yes, the First Trailer for ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Will Rock You
After a long road and troubled production, the first trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody is here and it contains as much glam and theatrics as you’d expect from a Queen biopic.
We get glimpses of Rami Malek’s greatly anticipated portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the teaser below. He seems to have captured the attitude, look and mustache of the iconic rock singer. That’s no small feat, considering Mercury is one of the most celebrated artists of all time. Our little Mr. Robot has come a long way.
The preview seems to be focusing primarily on the rock band’s rise to fame and not so much what happened years later. In fact I can’t even catch a suggestion of Mercury’s battle with AIDS. There has been speculation that the surviving members of Queen wanted this film to be about all of them, not just Mercury. It was once said that they consider Mercury’s time with the band to be the first part of their careers and they want the movie to be about the time after his death as well. While I can understand where they’re coming from, I’m not sure how that would play with audiences. People want a movie that’s mostly about Mercury because, well, duh
Bohemian Rhapsody has been a long, long time coming. It felt like this movie would never get made but its November release date is quickly approaching. Rock on.
