Even Casey Affleck Doesn't Think his Brother Will Play Batman Again
What I wouldn't give to peek into Ben Affleck's diary.
The Oscar-winning actor/director is set to once again play Batman in Matt Reeves's The Batman, a film he was originally going to also write and direct. Well, now he's just starring. Maybe. Or maybe he's not. Hell if I know anymore. Rumors have been swirling about this for ages and, as we reported, we really hope he sticks around.
One person who thinks Affleck won't put on the cape and cowl again? His little brother Casey. The Gone Baby Gone star stopped by WEEI Sports Radio (out of Boston, where he was promptly treated like a king) and jokingly (?) suggested that his brother wouldn't be doing The Batman.
Here's Casey:
I thought he was an okay Batman. No, I thought he was great. He was great. He’s a hero, so he had something to channel and work with there. But he’s not going to do that movie, I don’t think. Sorry to say.
When the hosts seemed shocked, Casey walked it back. “Is that breaking news?" he said. "Because I was just kind of making that up, I don’t know.”
Sure you don't know, Casey. Sure. You know how brothers can be, always giving each other a hard time, playing silly pranks and secretly telling them the future of multi-billion dollar movie franchises.
Maybe Casey really was making it up, maybe he heard the same rumors we've heard online. Or maybe he had a chat with his brother and read him like a book. Ben doesn't seem that excited about returning to play Bats, despite what he said at Comic-Con. And who could blame him? Batman V Superman was a straight up dumpster fire that wouldn't instill confidence in anyone. But with Matt Reeves taking the helm, the movie is poised to be something special. However, maybe Ben is just burnt out from the whole experience and revealed his intentions during a heartfelt chat with his brother.
Or, hell, maybe Casey is full of it. Will someone just clear this up ASAP?
