Graboids Will Get a Bite of Bacon in a 'Tremors' TV Series

You know who's great? Kevin Bacon in Tremors. Gosh, he was good. So was Fred Ward too. I don't have to tell you but Tremors is one fun movie. I wish we had more Tremors in our lives.

Wish granted! Syfy has just ordered a series pilot for a Tremors TV show. Graboid action every week? Terrific. Could it be any better? Yes, because Kevin Bacon is slated to return and star in said series. We truly live in a blessed time (if you don't think about all the horrible crap going on in the world).

Bacon returning to the Tremors universe is a big deal. He was terrific in the original film, deftly playing a good old country boy who just happens to kick some giant worm ass. The movie has become a rite of passage for budding horror fans. It's just the right amount of gross-out, adult jokes and scary moments that young genre aficionados can enjoy it along with more seasoned pros. It's a really special movie, I know it had quite the effect on me as a youngster.

Although there was only one good Tremors film (sorry, Michael Gross) there is plenty of stuff to dive into. It's about giant, bloodthirsty worms for God's sake - if that's not begging to be explored I don't know what is. The addition of Bacon promises that Syfy is taking this seriously, it's not just another Tremors: The Series. That's right, Syfy tried this once before in 2003 but the show wasn't good and was promptly canned after one season.

The new Tremors show (if the pilot is indeed ordered to series) is part of Syfy's latest rebranding. The network is now pitching itself as a fan-centered nerd network. Honestly that's a pretty good fit for them. They've come a long way from the days of showing episode after episode of Stargate. Now they'll have giant worms.
